- Read the magazine, please! You can clearly see what we want from reading what we have published.
- We are primarily interested in narrative nonfiction, immersion reportage
and literary journalism. We are interested in the small story that illuminates
the larger theme. We are interested in character sketches. We are NOT
interested in memoir. We publish four features every issue. These stories
run 2500-5000 words.
- We also publish one essay each issue (800-1200 words).
- FYI: Our Books in Review, On Craft and Q&A sections are not
open to freelancers
- Query first by email. No unsolicited manuscripts.
- If we give you the go-ahead on a story, submit it as a Word attachment via email
- Follow two basic rules: double space your copy; use AP style
